In 2021, Evan continued his exploration into music, embarking on his journey as a a musician/producer, releasing "Soil," a powerhouse debut that chronicles his experiences navigating life and finding self-worth as an LGBTQ+ person of color. Let Evan's mix 'Reborn' take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and bring you back to life. 1. What genre of music reminds you of your childhood? Hip-hop and for sure. Growing up in Memphis played a vital part in shaping my sound. I frequently pull inspiration from Black artists from the south who have paved the way for me— Artists like Three 6 Mafia, Yo Gotti and Crime Mob have a heavy influence on my musical endeavors. 2. What song embodies your zodiac sign? "Skyless" by Alex Lustig as it's ethereal and relaxing on its surface and is followed by an immensely powerful force that arrests you throughout the track's runtime. 3. What’s an album you can’t live without? Kissland by The Weeknd 4. Tell us the moment you realized you wanted to be a DJ! I was tagging along with my friend who also DJ's upon my early stages of moving here, and we went to this club, and watching them do their thing revealed something inside of me that has been there all along, but had seemed unattainable to me while growing up in Memphis. 5. A self motto you live by that you think will be inspiring for people who want to work in music? Music has the ability to make sense of every obscure complexity occupying the mind. APRIL 2023With warm weather around the corner, JackJack was a no brainer as our guest DJ for the month of April. What genre of music reminds you of your childhood? Any 90's R&B, Cathy Dennis, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC. 2. What song embodies your zodiac sign? Marvin's Room - Drake (LOLLLL) 3. What’s an album you can’t live without? In all honesty, it might seem something out of left field but Meteora by Linkin Park. Helped me out a lot when I was young. 4. Tell us the moment you realized you wanted to be a DJ! I realized that having control over the AUX had so much power, and that everyone was always asking me to plug my phone in. 5. A self motto you live by that you think will be inspiring for people who want to work in music? Be humble and don't compare yourself to your peers. Everyone has their own journey and you have to find your own way through it. MARCH 2023 |

4. Tell us the moment you realized you wanted to be a DJ!
Well there are 2 moments. Kinda. When I was trying to live in London (long story lol), I ran into some homies skating a spot. They invited me over and they had a small DJ controller. I was hella intrigued. When I moved back to NYC, I hit up the only DJ I knew Oscar “Oscei " to play and teach me the ways. After the 2 hour sesh on his super old CDJs, he said I was a natural. It boosted me. I tried one more time to see if it was beginners luck and told myself if I do well, I’ll buy a controller and give it a try. After that sesh, he said it was way better than my first sesh. I was hooked on phonics since then.
5. A self motto you live by that you think will be inspiring for people who want to work in music?
"'Love is the most valuable currency.'You love people and people love you. Don’t forget it!"

Complexities by Daniel Caesar

4. Tell us the moment you realized you wanted to be a DJ!
There isn’t one specific moment but more so every moment leading up to my first gig. I was working as stylist for several years and had a few clients in the music industry. Then early in 2021, I reconnected with an old friend who is a musician and this gave me the inspiration to take action and bring ideas I’d been building for years to fruition. My dad taught me the technical basics and with the support of friends, I booked my first gig. After that first set I knew I wanted to grow this dream and its been a whirlwind journey ever since.
5. A self motto you live by that you think will be inspiring for people who want to work in music?
Connect with your intuition and trust it, always.
