Founder of Ballistic Sounds.
A Band Called Flash released their E.P. Phantom in 2016. Their project received positive reviews from Resident Advisor and Rush Hour. With only one project out, A Band Called Flash has acquired a following from different countries around the world. Ballistic Sounds caught up with the man behind it all, flexible producer Jared Hines. He answered some questions regarding new music, musical influences and plans for the future:
Who are your musical influences?
Prince mainly, Outkast, Miguel, Frank Ocean, St. Vincent, Talking Heads, Michael Jackson, David Bowie.
What was your favorite song off of the Phantom EP?
Hmm, well my favorite song to produce was definitely Phantom. It was such a new sound for me to explore and really evolved the way that I write. My favorite song to perform is Hotline Bling 2. The energy that the band puts out performing it is something else. It never fails to get me hyped up.
What artists do you want to collaborate with in the future?
I would really love to work with Jamie Lidell some day. He's got such a great voice and I think our styles would complement each other well. A Andre 3000 or Big Boi collab would probably be the greatest thing that could ever happen to me.
What are your plans for 2017?
Release more music. The first two releases have done really well and the fact that Phantom, my first release with a vocal, has done so well gives me more incentive to write more singing for A Band Called Flash. I've also written a few pop-ish tracks that I want to start shopping around. A new project could be in the works as well. Visuals are also on the menu. The band is very good looking and I have to start showing them off.
Phantom is available on iTunes, Spotify and Soundcloud!
