MadeinTYO dropped his new project Thank You, Mr. Tokyo in late August. He gained fame after releasing his hit song “Uber Everywhere”. His most recent project primarily reflects on his rise to fame and fortune, as well as treating his girl right. The first track “Broken Hearts” has a hard beat that will get the listener’s head nodding. This song highlights that because of his popularity, MadeinTYO is able to live a life that most people dream of. His repetitive lyric “I wonder why they really wanna be like us” expresses contempt for people who doubted him.
“Gucci Polo” comes a little later in the EP. This track shows his pride and excitement for being able to afford expensive items. MadeinTYO specifically mentions how his lifestyle allows him to keep his girl satisfied and give her what she deserves. Love is an ongoing theme with lyrics that allude to beauty and affection throughout. “Gwinett” is a track that finally changes up the theme of this album by telling a story of him leaving his ex to begin his career. MadeinTYO’s self confidence allowed him to transform a negative into a positive filled with possibility.
Overall this project was average largely because of its repetitive theme and content matter. MadeinTYO mentions materialistic items to represent his growth in status often. Comparing your old life to your current acclaim is interesting, but gets monotonous when it’s the focal point of almost every track. Because of this repetitiveness, the listener is more likely to lose interest and question the artist’s authenticity. However, Thank You, Mr. Tokyo does have a variety of flows and beats, making it a hype project that can pump listeners up for any activity. MadeinTYO’s high energy levels make Ballistic Sounds hopeful for his future, especially because he is young with potential for growth.
